The Tri-County Regional Planning Commission (Tri-County) is pleased to present our agency's 2020 Annual Report, offering a snapshot of our accomplishments across our transportation, community development, and environmental planning areas over the course of the year.
Despite the unexpected challenges of 2020, Tri-County made significant progress in planning for the future of our region. From the adoption of our 2045 Metropolitan Transportation Plan, to the completion of major transportation projects like rebuilding I-496 and constructing the Coleman Road Extension, our team worked closely in collaboration with our partners from each corner of the region to implement and plan significant improvements to our transportation infrastructure and system. As we recognized the need for assistance in responding to the impacts of the pandemic on our communities and regional economy, our community development team pivoted their efforts to secure $400,000 in CARES Act funding on behalf of the region to conduct an economic impact analysis that will guide our next steps in planning for economic resiliency. Our environmental programs also adjusted their plans for educational outreach to respond to the unexpected circumstances by revamping their digital outreach materials, while also strengthening our regional water-monitoring resources by updating the Wellhead Protection Viewer and creating a Quality Assurance Project Plan to standardize surface water sample collection.
We invite you to read all about these efforts and so much more in the complete report, available now at mitcrpc.org/annualreport.
