The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) and the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) will conduct a certification review of the metropolitan transportation planning process in the Greater Lansing region during virtual meetings with the Tri-County Regional Planning Commission (Tri-County) office on May 26-27th, 2021.
This certification review by FHWA and FTA is required as part of Tri-County’s designation as the Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) for Clinton, Eaton, and Ingham counties. For any federal transportation funds to be spent in the three-county area, the MPO process must be certified every four years by the federal agencies in compliance with federal planning requirements.
As part of the certification review process, the public will have the opportunity to complete an online questionnaire about their experience with the transportation planning process for the chance to win a $100 gift card from May 17th through June 4th. The public is also invited to comment on the transportation planning process at the virtual meeting of the Tri-County Board of Commissioners on May 26th at 6 p.m. This meeting will include the opportunity to hear from and speak directly with FHWA and FTA representatives concerning their views on the transportation planning process in the region.
